About Jon King
After building a successful 35-year career with national and international auction houses, Jon King founded Jon King Art Advisory to assist Southern Florida collectors, estates, and institutions with their estate and appraisal needs.
Under the guidance of legendary Sotheby’s auctioneer Robert Woolley, Jon was trained to be well-versed in multiple collecting categories specifically to service estates and collections. His expertise was honed in the international auction market, working in the major cultural centers of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Palm Beach.
His career was distinguished by successfully functioning in both specialist and management roles, representing both buyers and sellers. He served as Executive Vice President and Director of Butterfield & Butterfield, San Francisco and Los Angeles, Vice President and Director of Decorative Arts, Sotheby.com New York, Vice President and Founding Director of Bonhams, New York, and Senior Specialist responsible for the proper identification and valuation of all decorative and fine arts for the Hindman Atlanta, Naples, and Palm Beach regional offices.
Over the years, Jon has managed countless estates including those of Michael Taylor, Kalef Alaton, Whitney Warren, Herbert Ross, Lucy Smith Battson, Liberace, Aimee de Heeren, Truman Capote, and Milton Myers, as well as the Collection of Dr. Scott Schubach, The Western Costume Collection, the MCA/Universal Jules Stein Collection, the Warner Brothers Studios Collection, and the landmark Lauren Bacall Collection auction.
